Weird Walk Presents: MAGIC CIRCLE

$17.00

A Special Issue of Weird Walk 🍂 Edited by Owen Tromans, Alex Hornsby, and James Nicholls

“A most natural building, the most woven with light, sky, and space, in the world.”
—John Fowles, The Enigma of Stonehenge

Some experts believe the rituals connected to the winter solstice to be of greater significance to the Neolithic people of Stonehenge than the summer, as it marked the time after which longer, brighter, and more fecund days would return.

Magic Circle contains photos from two rolls of Kodak Portra 200 film taken at sunrise within the inner circle of Stonehenge, six days before the winter solstice of 2018 and on the morning of the winter solstice of 2019.

This special edition from Weird Walk includes…

  • 21 pages of film photographs from within Stonehenge

  • A Magic Circle Primer: On the archaeological and cultural significance of Stonehenge

  • Extract: From “Lavengro: The Scholar, The Gypsy, The Priest,” by George Henry Borrow (1851)

…as well as an illustration based on Dr. Gerald Hawkins’ diagram of Stonehenge, showing alignments towards sun and moon events, which first appeared in the journal Nature in 1963.

The Peculiar Parish Bookshop is proud to offer this lovely Weird Walk Edition from our colleagues in the United Kingdom. Proudly made in Wessex and printed in Essex.

28-page A5 pamphlet with full-color photographs throughout. Printed on high-quality recycled stock. Potent semiconductor of winter solstice vibes.
